About Us

Welcome!

You love your town, and want to take advantage of everything happening there, and now there’s a place to find and post what’s happening. Townery allows you to easily navigate through the events in your area by category, venue or date. It was started by two people in Northern New Jersey who want to make it simple to find new events and even the playing field to allow all acts, performances and gatherings to get the visibility they deserve.

All events are free to post. Just sign-up, choose your town, the venue (or add a new one), category, time and date and then you can add all the info you can – image, price, event URL, and description of up to 2,000 characters.

We’re currently in beta, continually adding new features to enhance the site. We are starting with four towns, but are excited to expand. We’ll go where the people want us, so let us know if you want Townery to come to your town. We’re working to create a site that works for our users, and we want to hear your thoughts as we go along! Let us know any feedback on what you see now, what you’d like to see and towns/areas you’d like to see Townery go to next. You can reach us at info@townery.com.

Q: What is an event?

An event is an occurrence that takes place over a set period of time. It could be a play that runs for two months or a one-time event such as an outdoor movie showing in town, an opportunity for similar minded folks to come together at a specific location, or a band playing a gig. Pretty much it’s anything that is not a recurring activity that happens throughout the year – weekly yoga classes, bar drink specials, etc. Townery is all about giving folks a way to see what to do in town that’s an actual event, rather than a regular activity.

Q: So my bar has two-for-one ladies nights on Tuesday nights, can I post that? It is an event for the ladies.

Sorry, no. Let’s say you have one ladies nights a month where part of the proceeds go to charity, or is a special night for just one type of demographic such as teachers or nurses, then now it’s an event! Post away!

Q: How much does it cost to post an event?

Townery is completely free! You can post as many events as you want, all for free. Whether you’re a band playing multiple gigs in town or a venue owner, you can post all of your events with no fee. Post away!

Q: I noticed my event has changed, who did that? Why?

Only Townery’s administration (Cliff or Alicia) has the ability to make changes to the events. We will periodically check events for accuracy or add addition content to posting to make them more interesting. Many of the changes you will see will include the addition of the price, URL, additional information on the event or a picture. If you feel like the changes made are inaccurate or you do not agree with the changes, please drop us a note at info@townery.com.

Q: My event got deleted, why?

We are trying to make Townery the go-to destination for event in people’s towns. If an event posting includes content that goes against our Terms of Service – inappropriate language, or gatherings that are illegal or immoral in behavior will be removed. We will also remove events that are not real events (ie weekly drink specials, gym classes, etc) and we will try to email you to let you know that Townery is not the right place for these activities and to post them somewhere more appropriate.

We also reserve the right to delete events that are not taking place in the town that they are posted. Sometimes the event will just need to be posted in a different town, but other times if the event is outside of the given town (ie in Manhattan and posted in Brooklyn, sorry we aren’t in Manhattan now, but we will be soon) it will get erased entirely.

Q: I see an event that is inaccurate or using inappropriate picture/language, what should I do?

Please let us know immediately and we will work to fix the problem or remove a post that goes against our Terms of Service. If you see anything inappropriate in an event posting, please click on the “Report this Event” button found on each post. That will go to the administrators who can remove the event entirely or the inappropriate language. If you see something inaccurate, please email us at info@townery.com.

Q: I don’t have a picture for my event, where can I get one?

If the original event page has any promotional images on it, you can feel free to use those images as long as you include a link back to the original event. Other than that, you can feel free to post the event without a picture.

Q: My band is playing at an open mic night, can I post that?

Of course! Although you’ll be just part of a larger event, we want you to be able to promote your band here. Townery was developed with the idea that not everyone’s event gets the visibility it deserves, and a gig at an open mic is the perfect type of event to post on the site.

Q: You aren’t in my town yet, should I just post in the closest town? Or wait for my town?

Townery is just starting out, but we are trying to get to all the places where our users will be. If we see some demand in a new town or area, we’ll get that started. For now, if you are not in an area of Townery, instead of adding an event that is outside the area please let us know that you request Townery to come to a new town. If you post an event in the wrong town, it will be deleted.

Q: How can my event get more visibility?

We offer the ability to have your events promoted on the homepage, where they will sit regardless of when the event is occurring. With a sponsored event, you can also post multiple pictures and have an unlimited word count. Please contact us at info@townery.com to learn about our affordable rates.

Q: I own a bar but don’t have the time to post all the events we have there – what can I do?

We’re here to help. Please contact info@townery.com and we can tell you about our cost effective monthly rates. We can find all the details on your events, including pictures, and post them for you. Just give a call with your schedule, or send us the flyers you have in your bar and we’ll take care of the rest.

Welcome to Townery!

Here you can find and post events that are happening in your town for free. Just select “Add an Event” at the top, and enter some basic details (including the category you would like your event posted in), upload a pic if you got one and you’re all set! As a Townery member, you can also review the events you have added and edit them as needed.

Everything on the homepage is organized by category and showing the next five events happening in each category – but if you want to only see the events happening this week, or this weekend, just change the settings at the top.

Down the line we’re adding additional features for members, including the ability to “favorite” events, so you can easily find them the next time you sign in, and a weekly newsletter featuring just the categories that interest you.

We’re adding new towns all the time, let us know if you have somewhere you’d like us to head to next, or send us any other thoughts you have. Your feedback is important to us!
